Coffee Mediation

“Coffee Mediation” is a mural project curated by Discovery Polk and Building 180 in efforts of creating opportunities for women and giving some color to the streets of the Tenderloin. The piece was inspired by the artists experience as a barista, alongside the large coffee community that resides in the bay area. To create something beautiful and capturing, the artist designed vibrant and flowy aromas to carry out summer-like vibrancy, giving a sense of warmth that you get in that relaxing first sip in the morning. Creating a sense of a separate world, the aromas take over the piece and flow through small mounds that represent the hills of San Francisco. Lastly the coffee flower petals that originally grow from coffee trees, also follow the aromas and circle around the woman. The name “Coffee Mediation” was inspired by a local resident that shared their coffee mediation practice.
